"Missing" Internet Safety Program Comes to Massachusetts
Thanks to the talent and dedication of LiveWires Design, a small multimedia company located in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the hard work of Plymouth County District Attorney Tim Cruz and his staff, and a very special gift from the ESA Foundation, every middle school in Massachusetts will, this Fall, be receiving a free copy of an important and innovative tool that can help educate our children about the dangers of the Internet.
"Missing" is based on a true story of a child who was lured on-line from Canada to the U.S. by a pedophile. The game allows the player to take on the role of a detective, and to help both the Canadian and American police collect evidence, solving several puzzles and cryptograms related to the missing boy along the way. Through playing the game, young people are able to learn to recognize the potential dangers posed by those they may meet on-line. The game kit, in addition to the interactive CD -ROM game, also includes a training package for adults, a Guide for Parents and Teachers, and a disc with slide shows and manuals for further community training.
Project Alliance is pleased to offer a special training opportunity to our school and community leaders featuring Drew Ann Wake, co-founder of LiveWires Design and co-creator of "Missing." For more information on this event, see our October 3rd, 2003 listing.
