Middlesex DA Announces New Program

Citizenship in Action, a program of the Office of Middlesex District Attorney Martha Coakley, addresses the concepts of Equality, Democracy, Rights and Responsibilities, Justice for All, Freedom of Speech and Citizenship. Student participants experience what it takes to be an active citizen; through active learning, students will understand that there are responsibilities attendant to having broad rights, whether those are the rights guaranteed by the Constitution or the privileges offered to us by our parents or school-mates. They can begin to grapple with the concepts of justice and fairness and understand the purposes of a system of laws and consequences. Each of the six topical units is broken into four class sessions designed help the class Get the Principle, Own the Principle, Act on the Principle and Live the Principle. Each unit has been field tested with great success. For more information on this program, please contact Middlesex Assistant District Attorney and Director of Training and Community Education, Nora Mann at 617-679-6641.
