A Few Words from Middlesex District Attorney, Gerry Leone
As Middlesex District Attorney, I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you how excited I am to serve in this role and as Chair of Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc. (MPY). I am honored to succeed Martha Coakley, now Massachusetts Attorney General. Her work these past eight years has left an exemplary legacy of service, excellence, and professionalism. My office, with MPY, will continue that dedication to making violence prevention and education a priority for Middlesex schools and communities.
Many of you may already know me through my previous work as a Middlesex prosecutor with school-based prevention programs, but I do want to share a little of that background with you all. For 15 years I have focused on keeping people safe through effective, fair prosecution and by developing county, state, and federal crime prevention programs. I am proud of my experience representing the people of Massachusetts, fighting for victims, and creating proactive approaches to address both the causes and the aftereffects of crime.
Programs like MPY, which develop positive interpersonal relationships and constructive dialogues, offer one of the most effective ways I know to prevent crime. MPY initiatives are designed to share best practices in prevention and help you in your work with children and teens. Through MPY and related initiatives, I am committed to addressing violence-related issues by a multidisciplinary approach involving students, parents, educators, community leaders, public safety officials, and law enforcement. I hope you will join this effort by attending MPY workshops or using our educational resources.
I am impressed and inspired by MPY’s accomplishments and look forward to our work and continued progress together. I encourage you to share your ideas with us to help make MPY the best that it can be, and I hope to see you at our events this spring.
Sincerely,
Gerard T. Leone, Jr.
Middlesex District Attorney
Chairperson, Middlesex Partnerships for Youth, Inc.
